As a third-generation mechanic, I grew up under the hood of a car, beside the wheels of a dirt bike, and hanging over the roof with a spray gun in my hand. After graduating high school with a certificate from Live Oaks Vocational school in Auto collision, I started my career at a local Maaco body shop working my way up to painter.
After a few years, I found myself very intrigued in auto mechanics and started my first automotive service job and a Lube Tech at Jiffy Lube, in less than two years, I was promoted to Senior Lube Tech.
After a childhood of working in a garage full of my father’s tools and having any tool needed to complete any repair I felt like attempting, I was still hungry for more auto mechanical knowledge.
With a real mechanic shop right next door to the Jiffy Lube I worked at, I started helping out at that shop after my shift at JL and going in on my days off. It wasn’t long, I was offered a job as an apprentice at another one of their locations.
Shortly after that I was offered a job closer to home and a significant increase in pay simply because I was a certified AIMS inspector for the EPA (a certification I acquired at JL). I was now on my way to becoming a real auto mechanic.
I did work there for a few years and found another auto mechanic opportunity and moved on. A couple years after that, I decided to join the United States Marine Corp at age twenty-seven with a wife and two children. I guess you could say I get bored easily.
While in the Marine Corps, I got the rare opportunity to become a meteorologist. After boot camp, I started my journey in the Marine Corp fleet as a Weather Observer, I was able to achieve promotions at a very fast pace, mostly because of my age and maturity in the Corps. I achieved the rank required to attend weather forecasting school and took every opportunity available. I graduated forecasting school and was given the rank of Sergeant (E-5) within my first three years in the Corps. I received a promotion to Staff Sergeant (E-6) after I was Honorably Discharged.
My next move was to help my brother at his auto repair shop for a short time and then I decided to get into the forklift service industry. I accepted a job offer from the third largest forklift manufacturer in the world, Jungheinrich Lift Truck. I quickly became a lead technician and was the lead Jungheinrich Technician in the Midwest region. I then became a certified technical trainer for Nissan Forklift and shortly after started working the technical support desk for Jungheinrich Lift Truck, moving on to become a technical trainer for them as well.
Jungheinrich decided to move back to Germany after the 2008 economic crash, so I started an auto repair shop of my own in Amelia, Ohio. Accelerated Auto Service was born. I ran a two-bay repair shop up until 2014 moved my career back into the forklift service industry. From 2016 to present, I have worked for several forklift independent owners and a couple large dealerships. Over the years of forklift service, I have been exposed to equipment from conveyors to overhead cranes. Now it is time to get back on my own. I have had the Accelerated Service business since May 2009 and have now decided to change the name to Accelerated Equipment Service to change the forklift service industry for the better.
